-不空羂索”是象征观世音菩萨以慈悲的羂索救度化导众生，其心愿不会落空的意思，原是宗教学名词，宗教中暗语指众生本具之佛性。依《不空羂索神变真言经》所传有一面四臂，三面十八臂等多种化现，此幅唐卡表现既为观音菩萨诸多化身之一。主尊三面四臂，面相安详寂静。观音右上手持三叉戟，下手持一莲花；左上手结印，掌心有一天眼，左下手持羂索。身着天衣绸裙，项带璎珞珠宝，头上有三尊阿弥陀佛，非常罕见。双足跏趺坐于莲花宝座之上。主尊上方为阿弥陀佛以及两位菩萨，左右为金刚萨埵和阿底峡大师。整幅作品题材特殊，内容稀少，构图传统，画风质朴，寓意美好殊胜，有很高的宗教和艺术价值，适宜于供奉或收藏。

+This gilt bronze figure represents a Bodhisattva, a holy being who has obtained the final enlightenment and has chosen to return to the world to help humanity. It is a very rare example of devotional image from the Eastern Wei dynasty (534-577). Images of Bodhisattva were used in temples and shrines, and were particularly popular among devotees. The inscription on this example dates the object to AD 534 and mentions a placed called Tangxian in north China where this piece was probably made. Only two other examples of this type survive from the period, one in the Freer Gallery in Washington DC, the other in a private Japanese collection.
