This exquisite little bronze exhibits the refined skills of Newari casting. The sinuous lotus that blooms from its base forms a nexus of overlapping leafy stems, at one point wrapping around his elbow. Though of small stature, the bronze is densely cast and heavy in hand. Compare a related figure of Vajrasattva was sold at Sotheby's, London, 23 July 1984, lot 35.
