Bodhisattva Manjushri (Wenshu)
late 10th–early 12th century

The scroll held in the bodhisattva’s left hand identifies the figure as Manjushri, the personification of spiritual wisdom, who is generally shown holding such a text in the form of either a Chinese-style handscroll or an Indian-style palm-leaf manuscript.
