A gilt copper alloy figure of Vajrasattva
Tibet or Nepal, 13th/14th century
Inlaid with turquoise and lapis lazuli; the bodhisattva is seated on a lotus throne holding the bell ghanta and vajra at the chest. His elaborate crown and extensive jewelry is inset with turquoise and lapis lazuli. 5 ⅜ in. (13.7 cm.)

The facial type, stocky proportions and red lacquered decoration at the back of the base are closely related to sculpture attributed to the Khasa Malla region on the border region of Western Nepal and Western Tibet. However the extent of inlaid semi-precious stones is more closely aligned with classic Newari style of the period.
