A seated figure of Avalokiteśvara cast in a copper alloy; inlaid with silver and copper and inset with coloured stones and with traces of blue pigment in the hair. The Bodhisattva is shown seated in lalitasana on a lotus base with the right hand raised in abhayamudra; lotus stalks to the right and left.

Zwalf 1985
This Avalokiteśvara, as Padmapāṇi, the lotus-holder, reflects, without altogether lacking spiritual presence, a late and opulent development in eastern India. The 'parent' Buddha is absent from the head-dress which is itself a late form. The sacred cord from the right shoulder to the left thigh is no doubt jewelled, an elaborate series of necklaces covers the upper torso, the lower garment is patterned, and the lotuses were once inlaid with precious or semi-precious stones. The right hand is raised in an almost languid gesture.

这尊观世音菩萨像，以持莲者（Padmapāṇi）的形象出现，虽不失其灵性气韵，却体现了东印度地区晚期华丽繁复的发展风格。其头冠中未见化佛——这本身就是一种晚期形制。由右肩斜披至左大腿的圣线无疑饰有珠宝，一组精致的璎珞覆盖着上身，下裳饰有纹样，而莲花上曾镶嵌有宝石或半宝石。右手抬起，姿态近乎慵懒。
